WebRegardless of whatever Kubrick intended, I think the lack of explanation for a lot of the film’s events actually works in The Shining’s favour. It has a power to it that not a lot of other movies have, even if Kubrick may have intended to explain the events more. It is hard to defend the bear costume scene, though.
